How Stroke 9 Accidentally Introduced me to Eve6.
It was late 2000 when a friend of mine gave me a burned CD that had "Stroke 9" written on the front of it. I listened to that CD non-stop in my car for a couple of weeks.
I was going thru a pretty nasty divorce at the time, and I connected with the songs on the CD in a very real and emotional way.
So I decided to look up the band and buy this CD, and whatever other CD's they had available. I looked them up on Amazon, but none of the Stroke 9 CD's had any of these songs on them. I didn't have a track list, but I could make out from the lyrics, that these songs weren't on any album Amazon was selling.
I thought maybe it was really new, or maybe it was like an unreleased 'indie' comp, or something like this, so I found the Stroke 9 website and e-mailed the band.
In that email, I told them about my divorce, and how these songs had really effected me emotionally. That "You're the one with the Jet Pack" song, and the one about "Ampetamines", and especially that "Promise not to try..." song. I want to buy this CD, but I can't find it for sale anywhere.
A couple days later, I got an email back from Stroke 9 that was one sentence. "That's Eve6 you dick."
So, armed with new information, I went back to Amazon and easily found "Horrorscope" which obvious had the songs "Promise", "Jet Back" and "Amphetamines" on it. I bought it, and their first CD too, and I've been hooked ever since.
